Item: Dutch waffen SS Shield so called Dachau type
The “Waffen-SS Shield Volunteer” likely refers to a military decoration known as the Waffen-SS Volunteer Shield or, in German, the “SS-Freiwilligen-Schützenabzeichen.” This award was instituted by Heinrich Himmler, the head of the SS, in 1943. It was intended to be worn by non-German volunteers serving in the Waffen-SS, the armed wing of the SS.

in het Duits, de "SS-Freiwilligen-Schützenabzeichen." Deze onderscheiding werd in 1943 ingesteld door Heinrich Himmler, het hoofd van de SS. De onderscheiding was bedoeld om te worden gedragen door niet-Duitse vrijwilligers die dienden in de Waffen-SS, de gewapende vleugel van de SS.
