Item: During the Second World War and earlier conflicts, Japanese soldiers received a military pocketbook (軍隊手帳 – Guntai Techō). This was their official identity and service booklet, which they were required to carry at all times. It contained personal information, military unit and rank, training records, equipment details, medical information, and service history stamps. Many booklets also included personal notes or good luck charms. It was an important military document, comparable to the German Soldbuch.
Condition: The soldier’s booklet is in excellent condition for its age, considering it is over 140 years old. The booklet contains all the personal and military information of the soldier who fought in the First Sino-Japanese War.
