Anton Mussert was the founder and leader of the National Socialist Movement (NSB), the Dutch fascist party established in 1931. During the German occupation of the Netherlands (1940–1945), Mussert collaborated with the Nazis, hoping to secure a role in governing the Netherlands under German oversight. Although he was officially recognized as the “Leader of the Dutch People,” he held little real political power. After the war, he was arrested, convicted of treason, and executed in 1946. Mussert remains a controversial figure in Dutch history, symbolizing collaboration with the Third Reich.
Thank-you notes for donations to the Nationaal Dagblad
In the 1930s and 1940s, Anton Mussert, leader of the NSB, issued signed thank-you notes to individuals who donated money toward the purchase of a new printing press for the Nationaal Dagblad, the official newspaper of the NSB. This newspaper served as a key propaganda tool for the movement and played an important role in spreading National Socialist ideology in the Netherlands.
When the original press was confiscated by the Dutch government, the NSB launched a fundraising campaign among its members and supporters. Donors would often receive a signed card, letter, or certificate bearing Mussert’s signature, sometimes accompanied by a portrait photo or press photo.
Condition:
Both the thank-you card and the press photo are in good condition. The card includes a handwritten date, the donated amount of 5 guilders, and Anton Mussert’s original signature beneath the text.

Utrecht, 9 Feb. 1939
In response to my appeal to contribute to the costs of acquiring a new press for the further development of “Het Nationale Dagblad”, you have sent an amount of 5 guilders.
Please accept my sincere thanks for this support.
Thanks to the large number of contributions, it has been possible to purchase and install a new press. Its capacity is two and a half times greater than that of the press that was confiscated.

A very rare and historically unique item that is extremely difficult to find!
Item: Anton Mussert was de oprichter en leider van de Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging (NSB), de Nederlandse fascistische partij die in 1931 werd opgericht. Tijdens de Duitse bezetting van Nederland (1940–1945) werkte Mussert samen met de nazi’s, in de hoop een rol te krijgen in het bestuur van Nederland onder Duits toezicht. Hoewel hij formeel werd erkend als "Leider van het Nederlandse Volk", had hij in werkelijkheid weinig politieke macht. Na de oorlog werd hij gearresteerd, veroordeeld voor landverraad en in 1946 geëxecuteerd. Mussert blijft een omstreden figuur in de Nederlandse geschiedenis, symbool van collaboratie met het Derde Rijk.
Bedankjes voor donaties aan het Nationaal Dagblad
In de jaren dertig en veertig gaf Anton Mussert, leider van de NSB, handtekeningen uit als bedankje aan mensen die doneerden voor een nieuwe drukpers voor het Nationaal Dagblad, de officiële krant van de NSB. Deze krant was het propagandamiddel van de beweging en speelde een belangrijke rol in het verspreiden van nationaalsocialistische ideeën in Nederland.
Toen er geld nodig was voor de aanschaf van een nieuwe drukpers — omdat de oude in beslag was genomen door de Nederlandse staat — startte de NSB een inzamelingsactie onder haar leden en sympathisanten. Degenen die een donatie deden, ontvingen vaak een gesigneerde kaart, brief of bedankcertificaat met de handtekening van Mussert, soms vergezeld van een portretfoto of persfoto.
Conditie: Zowel de bedankkaart als de persfoto verkeren in goede staat. De kaart bevat een handgeschreven datum, het gedoneerde bedrag van in totaal 5 gulden, en de originele handtekening van Anton Mussert onder de tekst.

In antwoord op mijn oproep om bij te dragen in de kosten van aanschaffing van een nieuwe pers voor den verdere opbouw van „Het Nationale Dagblad” hebt gij een bedrag gezonden van f 5.–
Ontvang mijn hartelijken dank voor deze medewerking.
Door het groote aantal bijdragen is het mogelijk geworden een nieuwe pers aan te koopen en te installeeren. De capaciteit is twee en een half maal zoo groot als die van de in beslag genomen pers.
