Item: During World War II, the German Red Cross (GRC), known as the Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK), was under Nazi control and played a role in supporting the regime’s policies. They collaborated with the Nazi Party, excluding Jewish members and supporting the war effort. The GRC also provided services such as first aid training and emergency medical care. Despite this, the GRC was criticized for not doing more to aid Jews and other prisoners during the Holocaust. After the war, the GRC operated a tracing service that helped locate missing persons, particularly soldiers and those displaced by the conflict.
Condition:
The membership booklet is in good condition and has handwritten entries. It originates from the Ortsgemeinschaft Cloppenburg (local branch). The German Red Cross membership pin is also in good condition; only the back pin is slightly loose on one side of the frame (as seen in the photo), but it remains firmly in place.
Item: Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog stond het Duitse Rode Kruis (DRK), in het Duits bekend als het Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK), onder controle van de nazi's en speelde het een rol in de ondersteuning van het regime. Ze werkten samen met de NSDAP, sloten Joodse leden uit en ondersteunden de oorlogsinspanningen. Het DRK bood ook diensten aan zoals EHBO-opleidingen en medische noodhulp. Desondanks werd het DRK bekritiseerd omdat het niet meer deed om Joden en andere gevangenen tijdens de Holocaust te helpen. Na de oorlog beheerde het DRK een opsporingsdienst die hielp bij het terugvinden van vermiste personen, met name soldaten en mensen die door de oorlog waren ontheemd.
Conditie: Het lidmaatschapsboekje verkeert in goede staat en bevat handgeschreven aantekeningen. Het komt van de Ortsgemeinschaft Cloppenburg (plaatselijke afdeling). De Duitse Rode Kruis-lidmaatschapsspeld is ook in goede staat; alleen de achterkant van de speld zit aan één kant iets los van het frame (zie foto), maar hij zit nog stevig vast.
