Item: During the Second World War and earlier conflicts, Japanese soldiers received a military pocketbook (軍隊手帳 – Guntai Techō). This was their official identity and service booklet, which they were required to carry at all times. It contained personal information, military unit and rank, training records, equipment details, medical information, and service history stamps. Many booklets also included personal notes or good luck charms. It was an important military document, comparable to the German Soldbuch.
Condition: The soldier’s paybook is in excellent condition for its age.

Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en eerdere conflicten ontvingen Japanse soldaten een militair zakboekje (軍隊手帳 – Guntai Techō). Dit was hun officiële identiteits- en dienstboekje dat zij altijd bij zich moesten dragen.
